Raising Hands for Haiti

Nancy Taggart

White Hall Elementary fourth-graders, from left, Natalie Akihary, Hannah Tanner, Peyton Metcalfe, Kate Richardson and Haven Jacob glue blue and green paper hands on the wall in the school hallway to represent the Earth on the last day of the school’s week-long “Hands for Haiti” fundraiser. Students and staff who donated any amount of money for Haiti wrote their name on a hand which was glued to the wall to symbolize unity. The event, organized by Peggy Blankenship’s and Lesley Carr’s fourth-grade homeroom, raised more than $1,000 that will be donated to the American Red Cross for the Haitian relief effort.
