Package inside EKU building not a threat

Register staff report

RICHMOND — After investigation by appropriate law enforcement agencies, Eastern Kentucky University authorities have determined that a suspicious item found in Palmer Hall, a student residence hall, was not a threat to the community.

Residents have been allowed to return to their rooms, said Marc Whitt, EKU spokesperson.

Also, he said normal activities have been allowed to resume in the areas of Park Drive and Commonwealth Lot.

    Two of them live with their grandmother, Dorothy McNair of Berea, who refers to such children as “our gift packages.”

    Many times, when people think of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, they think of the organization’s fundraiser Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
    But this year, BBBS of the Bluegrass is trying something new.
    “Based on the response that I’ve gotten from our community and surrounding communities, I’m expecting a big event,” said Rhonda Middleton, BBBS of the Bluegrass regional program manager.
