RICHMOND —
A Saturday, Oct. 13, concert at Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Richmond will benefit Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence Shelter.
Les Jongleurs, a Richmond-based choral group directed by John Stegner, will perform at 6 p.m. The concert will celebrate American choral music and will feature a guest performance by the by the University of the Cumberlands Trumpet Ensemble.
The program features arrangements and compositions by legendary American composers such as Aaron Copland, Stephen Foster, William Billings, Alice Parker, Robert Shaw and Eric Whitacre.
“We are honored and excited to share the stage with Les Jongleurs,” said UC Trumpet Ensemble director Patrick Tuck.
The concert is free, but a suggested donation of $5 will be directed to the performers and to Hope’s Wings. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Stegner expressed gratitude to these incredible musicians who consistently go beyond their musical contributions in sharing their voices with such worthwhile service organizations.
The UC trumpet studio has big plans this season as they are raising funds to bring trumpeter Joe Burgstaller of Canadian Brass fame to the region in a cooperative effort with EKU and the Madison Community Band. They also want to send students to the 2013 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Allendale, Mich.
“These are once-in-a-life time opportunities for students who have never seen so many great trumpet players in one place at one time,” said Tuck.
