RICHMOND —

NAACP monthly meeting
The Richmond/Madison County Branch of the NAACP meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 302 Francis Street, Richmond.
Giveaway yard sale
The Children’s Fellowship of First Baptish Church, Francis Street in Richmond, will host a FREE yard sale today (Saturday, Sept. 8). Items such as clothing, shoes, household items, furniture, toys and much more will be given away. Christian tea party
Today (Saturday, Sept. 8) at 4 p.m., the Concord Predestinarian Baptist Church, 286 Charlie Norris Road, will host a tea social for women and men. Special guest will be Sis. Vallerie Taylor of Lexington. Singing will be part of the program. Everyone is welcome to join us.
St. Paul celebrates 145th anniversary
Sunday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m., the St. Paul AME Church of Richmond will celebrate its 145th anniversary. Special guests will be Rev. Floyd Ballew, choir and cogregation of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Dinner will be served, and everyone is invited to come and worship. Host Pastor is Rev. William Hale.
Missionary Day at Mt. Nebo
Sunday, Sept. 16, the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Missionary Day. Pastor Brenda Douglas of TTR Ministries will be the guest speaker. Rev. Floyd Ballew is host pastor.
Peytontown’s 126th Anniversary
On Sunday, Sept. 16, the Peytontown Baptist Church will celebrate its 126th church anniversary. Guest for the 11 a.m. worship service will be Rev. Mervin Johnson. Guests for the 3:30 service will be Rev. David L. Ravizee, choir and cogregation from Winburn Dr Baptist Church in Lexington. Everyone is welcome to come out to worship the Lord with us. Deacon Calvin Mitchell and Sis. Emma Mitchell are chairpersons for the event.
Red House welcomes new pastor
On Saturday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. the Red House United Methodist Church will host a homemade ice cream social in honor of its new pastor, Joe White, and his family. A silent auction of sweet treatsis also planned. Everyone is welcome and donations will be appreciated.
Free-lunch ministry
Every Thursday, from noon to 3 p.m., Saint Paul AME Church, 437 Francis St., Richmond, serves a free lunch to all who come.
“This is an ongoing, weekly ministry to serve the hungry, the homeless and feed anyone who walks in our doors,” says Pastor William R.T. Hale.
