RICHMOND —
The annual Lenten Luncheon Series at the Berea United Methodist Church continues Wednesday, March 6, with Marvin D. Farmer at the podium.
The luncheon begins at noon in the parish house, 101 Fee St., Berea, with a brief program including special music.
Following the program, a light lunch will be provided. Those attending should be able to see the program, enjoy a meal, and return to work within 45 minutes; the event ends around 12:45 p.m. Reservations are not necessary; simply come and join in the spirit of community and in celebration of the season of Lent. The theme for 2013 is “Where Love and Mercy Meet.”
Marvin Farmer, a Marine veteran of World War II, has been a Berea resident since 1952. He retired from federal civil service with the U.S. Army. He has been a member of the Berea Baptist Church for 58 years, and has taught the men’s adult Sunday school class for most of the past 40 years. He and his wife, Virginia Crabtree Farmer, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in January. February marked Mr. Farmer’s 92 birthday.
Future speakers for the Lenten series include Tim and Ruth Walker, who will both speak and sing on March 13. Warren May, local dulcimer maker and businessman, will speak March 20. Dr. Sarah Little of St. Joseph Berea Family Medicine is the final speaker March 27.

Madison County residents will be joining people across the nation Thursday when they gather at noon in front of the courthouse, 101 W. Main St., Richmond, to observe the 62nd National Day of Prayer.

‘Entangled Lives’ to be presented Saturday at Berea College
