Let our resolutions be filled with prayers for one another. As we approach this New Year, let us all come together in a moment of silence praying for strength, guidance, deliverance, love and unity. Let us pray for peace and understanding, asking God to lead us through the unknown year to come of 2013. We cannot see our future, so let the Lord help us through, for the prayer of the righteous prevaileth much.

NAACP meeting

The Richmond/Madison County Branch of the NAACP meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 302 Francis St., Richmond, Ky.

A special thank you

The family of Julia Mae Williams would like to thank all who sent a word of condolence, said a prayer or helped in any way during the passing of our beloved aunt.

We want to thank Elder Raymond Walker and the congregation of Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church for everything they did. We want to especially thank Elder Virgil Gardner and Pleasant Green Predestinarian Baptist Church for the wonderful eulogy, words of comfort and prayers.

Free-lunch ministry

Every Thursday, from noon to 3 p.m., Saint Paul AME Church, 437 Francis St., Richmond, serves a free lunch to all who come.

“This is an ongoing, weekly ministry to serve the hungry, the homeless and feed anyone who walks in our doors,” says Pastor William R.T. Hale.

The free lunch ministry will be open and active, Thursday, Nov. 22, serving Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Tates Creek Predestinarian Baptist Mass Meeting

Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., the Tates Creek Predestinarian Baptist Association Sunday School Mass Meeting will be held at St. Paul Church in Lancaster. All churches in the association are encouraged to attend this meeting. The host pastor Elder Barry Bowman.

Fifth Sunday service

Sunday, Dec. 30, at 3:30 p.m., the Tates Creek Predestinarian Baptist Association Fifth Sunday service will be hosted by the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church. The pastor is Elder Raymond Walker.

New Years Eve Watch Night

Monday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 p.m., the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church will hold its annual community watch night service with Pleasant Green and Concord Predestinarian Baptist churches. They invite the community to come out and help celebrate the new year. Everyone is welcome. The host pastor is Elder Raymond Walker.

Teen Turning Point:  Is an intervention and prevention program for teens identified as at risk for academic failure, substance abuse issues, and potential judicial interaction.

Cope: Supports parents, spouses, grandparents or family members who are affected by the addictions and compulsive behaviors of family members or friends.

Lifeline: Is drug awareness and prevention that is telecast once a week to Time Warner Cable’s viewing audience in Richmond and Berea.
