RICHMOND — Richmond’s First Christian Church demolished its old education building, erected about 1953, on Monday to make way for a new, larger structure. Construction of the new building will begin next month with a mid-2013 target date for completion, according to Richard Cobb IV of the church’s building committee. Asbestos was removed from the structure before it was taken down. In June, the church demolished a 118-year-old house that stood on its Main Street property, also to make way for the new building.
