Joyce Sowers, 70

Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home

RICHMOND — Joyce Helen Sowers, 70, wife of 54 years to Mr. Johnny Hunt Sowers, passed away, Thursday, September 27, 2012, in her home.

Mrs. Sowers was born August 3, 1942, in Madison County, the daughter of the late John and Lottie Applegate Agee.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing, and traveling. Mrs. Sowers was a former caretaker, who loved helping others and especially her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: two sons, Vernon Lee “Tom” Sowers (Tammy) and Raymond Dale “Jack” Sowers (Carla), both of Richmond; one daughter, LaTrenda Robin “Poochie” Sowers, Jamestown; three sisters, Thelma D. Hendricks, Carolyn Brockman and Martha Lynn Watson (Ben); seven grandchildren, Tabitha Dawn Sowers (Abraham), Beth LeAnn Alcorn (Rodney), Ryan Dale Sowers, Tiffany L. Sowers, Brittany L. Sowers, Zachery Meade and John D. Meade (Sarah); and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Alberta Rollins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Zack Meade, Ryan Sowers, Dalton Moody, Rodney Alcorn, Travis Broaddus and Derek Meade.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Moody, Bobby Gray, Moe Rollins, Darrell Rollins, and John David Rollins.

    Cleveland “June” Perkins Jr., 87, husband of 63 years to Ima Jean Horn Perkins, died Monday, May 20, 2013.
    He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
    Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961.

    She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child.

    Mrs. Lange was born in Winchester, Ky., on Sept. 18, 1939, to the late J.B. and Ruth Esther Black Hatton.
