Garland Blevins, 75

RICHMOND — Garland E. Blevins, 75, husband of Betty Lou McCay Blevins, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.

Mr. Blevins was born in Madison County on Feb. 25, 1937, to Elish and Hazel Rose Blevins. He retired from Westinghouse-Phillips and was a farmer.

Garland was a 1956 graduate of Madison Central High School and a member of Richmond House of Prayer. He loved hunting, gardening and was an avid bass fisherman. He was a devoted UK Wildcat fan who loved children.

In addition to his wife, Betty Blevins, he is survived by one daughter, Fonda Gail Blevins Burns (Don) of Richmond; a sister, Wanda Faye Blevins Pennington, of Kingston; one granddaughter, Victoria Paige Rogers; one stepson, Timothy R. Bingham (Judy) of Berea; one stepdaughter, Elyse C. Popp (Randy) of Piqua, Ohio; two stepgrandchildren, Amy Powell (Gary), Robert Gregory Popp, both of Keller, Texas; sister; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua Lee Turner and Jeremy Lance Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Owen Moody and Rev. Frank Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bob Blount, Don Burns, Randy Popp, Jimmy Saylor, Shannon Pennington and Rob Angel.

Honorary bearers will be Donnie McCay, Mason McCay, Hugh McCay, Don McCay, Felix Tribble, Matt Burns, Wanda Farthing, Melinda Farthing, Doyle Wilson, Frank Hill, Barry Adams, Tommy Hawkins, Adam Saylor and Brandon Saylor.
