RICHMOND —
Mary Ekris Weyhrauch, 86, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Feb. 20, 2013, after a long illness.
Mary was born May 17, 1926, in Sabraton, W.Va., and was raised in Hazard, Ky. As a child, her family relocated to both Colorado and Greece, the country of her parents’ heritage, before returning to Hazard.
Mary graduated from Centre College in Danville and the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she received her degree in library science. She worked at several libraries including UK, Murray State University, Maysville and the New York Public Library in Manhattan where she met her future husband, Ernest E. Weyhrauch. Mary and her family lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Bloomington, Ind., before moving to Richmond in 1966 where her husband served as Dean of Libraries for EKU.
Mary is survived by a son, Ernest Weyhrauch (Terresa); a daughter, Anne Venable (Tony); a brother, Chris (Pat) Ekris; and grandchildren Jason (Sasha), James, Joseph, Daniel, Rebecca, Mary, and Hannah.
Ernest, her husband of 49 years, preceded her in death.
Mary was known for her sweet spirit and always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone that she came in contact with.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday. Reverend Frank Foster will preside. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961. -

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child. -
