Clarence Edward Hensley, 85


Clarence Edward Hensley, 85, of Jolly Ridge Road, Richmond, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009, in the Richmond Health & Rehab Complex – Kenwood Extendicare.

A native of Madison County, Clarence was born September 28, 1924, to the late Hampton and Fronia (Houchill) Hensley. He was a retired superintendent of the Richmond Cemetery and a lifetime farmer. Clarence served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Elizabeth (O’Donnell) Hensley; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Hensley; one brother, Thomas Franklin Hensley; and one sister, Martha Mae Baldwin.

Clarence is survived by: his son, Clarence “Eddie” Hensley of Richmond; one brother, Calvin Lewis Hensley of Kettering, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine Whitaker of Richmond and Susie Boise of Port Ritchie, Fla.; as well as, three nieces, Nancy Stokley Gulley, Ada Mae O’Donnell Maine and Donna Sue Boise.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott Guiley officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Jimmy Whitaker, Paul David Whitaker, Steve Whitaker, Jack Hensley, Ricky O’Donnell and Nelson O’Donnell.
