Robert Bruce Combs, 47, son of Robert and Jean Combs, went to the arms of his Lord November 16, 2009, at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
He is survived by: his wife, Jeanne Gail Combs; one son, Robert Bruce Combs Jr.; one daughter, Jeanne Lee Combs of Gulfport, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Amber (Scott) Roberts of Berea and Andrea Blair of Brodhead; one stepgrandson, Jackson Roberts; two brothers, Rick (Kathy) Combs and Rodney (Amy) Combs; and two sisters, Lesa (Larry) Combs and Kim Rose. He also is survived by: four nephews, one niece, three great-nephews and four great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by: one aunt, Mildred French McCollum; and grandparents, Frank and Alma Wilson and Marcus and Leona Combs.
Bruce attended B.C.S., Silver Creek Elementary, Clark Moores Middle School and graduated from Madison Central High School. After school, he joined the Navy where he served with the Seabees. After discharge he worked in Mississippi and came back to Kentucky, where he worked for Sherwin Williams for 10 years before becoming ill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Lakes Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be David Wilson, Scott Roberts, Rick Combs, Rodney Combs, Larry Combs and Steve Kellerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Rose, Austin Rose, Tim Combs and Dan Combs.
