Ray Shearer, 75

Ray Shearer, 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. Ray was a farmer and logger for many years; he was also a member of the Middletown Baptist Church.

Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Korea. Ray was born to the late Ellis and Sarah Malicote Shearer in Jackson County. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Betty Lou Davidson Shearer; and a sister, Eva Martin.

Ray is survived by: his sons, Bobby Shearer of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Douglas Shearer of Morrill, Ky.; his sister, Linda (John) Patrick of Berea; special friend, Joan Williams of Annville, Ky.; grandchildren, Chris and Victoria Shearer; and several nieces and nephews also survive Ray.

Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Lakes Funeral Home with the Rev. Denny McCowan officiating. Burial will be in Lunsford-Shearer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Martin, Frank Martin, Jarvis Martin, Eugene Martin, Curtis Carpenter and Dennis Elliott. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

    Etta Ree Golden, 98, of Russell Springs, died on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in New Castle. She is survived by one sister and two brothers of Richmond. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at the same place.
