Clarence H. “C.H.” Gillespie, age 88, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009. He was born February 10, 1921, in Crag (Greenbrier County), W.V., the son of N.N. Gillespie and Ella Lois (Buckland) Gillespie.
He was a retired U.S. government employee.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Lisa D. Gillespie; grandson David (wife, Jane) Gillespie of Herrin, Ill.; sister, Vergie Gillespie Spiker of Kenneth, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, wife Mary Frances Yowell Gillespie, daughter Gloria, son Ralph, three sisters and seven brothers.
He was a longtime member of Berea Baptist Church and Anchor Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday November 6, 2009, at Lakes Funeral Home. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will follow at noon at Berea Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating.
