Charlotte Mae Broaddus, 89

Charlotte Mae Broaddus, 89, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, in the Compassionate Care Center. She was the widow of Russell Broaddus.

Mrs. Broaddus was born September 25, 1920, in Shelbyville, Ky., and was the daughter of Clay and Lilly Ware Cornelius, both of whom preceded her in death. She retired from Eastern Kentucky University as a nighttime dormitory hostess and was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel and officer of the Madison Towers Tenant Association.

To her family, Mrs. Broaddus was a saint.

Survivors include: seven sons, Lindsey Broaddus (Phyllis) of Dayton, Ohio, Jackie Noland Broaddus (Teresa) of Richmond, Donald Broaddus of Dayton, Ohio, Hubert Broaddus (Anita Curry) of Richmond, Carl Broaddus (Kim) of Lexington, David Broaddus (Teresa) of Richmond, and Tommy Broaddus (Gina) of Richmond; one daughter, Jane Kinney of Richmond; 35 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Broaddus was preceded in death by: one daughter, Jerry Broaddus Rice; one granddaughter, Robin Renee Rice Moore; two grandsons, Donald Lynch and Taylor Andrew Broaddus; and two brothers, Clay and Lindsey Cornelius.

Funeral services for Charlotte Broaddus will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Grant and the Rev. Howard Miller officiating.

Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Broaddus, Shayne Broaddus, Nathan Broaddus, Kyle Sharp, Ronald Dean Rice, Travis Broaddus, Robert Broaddus, Brad Broaddus, and Mandy Simpson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hospice Care Plus, 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, KY 40403; or Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.
