Born in Berea —
The Reverend Terry Parsons, 65, departed this world early on the morning of October 3, 2012, in Bay City, Mich.
Born in Berea, Ky., on September 22, 1947, to two loving parents, she was later joined by younger sister Elise and younger brother Ray.
She gave birth to two devoted sons, Chris and Brian, who will always treasure the love she shared and the adventurous, open spirit she passed on to them. Terry delighted in her three grandchildren, Erin, Leia and Miles.
Terry believed fundamentally that our lives should be spent in using those gifts bestowed to us by God in doing God's work in service to others. Terry spent more than a decade working for the Episcopal Church in New York, actively involved in stewardship campaigns for congregations throughout the country.
While in New York, she completed her master’s in divinity at General Seminary. In August of 2011, she was blessed to be given a position at St. Albans in Bay City. For her, it was the completion of a long journey and the realization of her life's ambition: to offer her leadership to a church.
Terry leaves behind her mother, Edna Parsons, her brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Julie Parsons; heart sister Jo Bartlett; her brother-in-law, John Lackey; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Melissa Fannin; and her grandchild, Erin Fannin; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Inessa Fannin; and her grandchildren, Leia and Miles Fannin.
She also leaves behind dozens of other close family members, many associates in the Episcopal Church and countless friends throughout the country.
Terry joins her father Alton Parsons and her sister Elise Parsons Lackey.
Services will take place Monday, October 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the White Oak Pond Church of Richmond. The Reverend Dr. Janet Cottrell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the general fund of St. Albans Episcopal Church, 105 S. Erie St., Bay City, MI 48706.
Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
