RICHMOND —
Phill D. “Doug” Cole, 68, husband of Jennifer Alfred Cole, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, peacefully at home with his family.
Mr. Cole was born July 8, 1944, in Clark County, Ky., the son of the late Jessie Brown and Lillian Coffey Cole.
He was a member of Westside Christian Church for 39 years, which he served as a deacon and elder. He also taught Sunday school, served as youth leader, trustee and song leader.
A graduate of Henry Clay High School, he attended the University of Kentucky, where he was accepted to play trumpet in the Marching 100 Band, and also played in the Marine Corps Band Drum & Bugle Corps.
His loves were his family, woodworking, traveling and gospel music; he sang with “His Own” quartet.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by: three sons, Michael D. Cole (Sharon), Christopher D. Cole (Cristy), William N. Cole (Andrea); one sister, Patricia Cole; four grandsons, Drew Cole, James Cole, Noah Cole, Scott Markwell (Khristy); two great-grandsons, Austin Markwell and Leland Markwell; two uncles, Billy Coffey (Betty) and Harold Coffey (Ann).
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Simpson, Bro. John McCord, and Bro. Tony Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Drew Cole, Shelton Smith, David Wilson, Billy Coffey, Harold Coffey, Larry Blackburn and Scott Markwell.
Junior pallbearers will be James Cole, Noah Cole, Austin Markwell, and Leland Markwell.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of “His Own”: Rick & Jessica Hayes, Earl & Debbie Broaddus, Richard & Sally Childers; John & Nora McCord, Corbett & Pauletta Perkins, Glenn & Brenda Foley; elders of Westside Christian Church: Ed Neeley, Ken Wells and Mike Stull.

Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961. -

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child. -
