Nancy Margaret McClanahan, 84

Davis & Powell Funeral Home

BEREA — Nancy Margaret McClanahan, age 94, formerly of Paris, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Berea.

She was born February 26, 1918, to the late John Monroe Parson and Lucy Greene Pearson Parson.

She along with her late husband, William McClanahan Jr., owned and operated June’s Grocery in Paris for many years. She had been a resident of Berea for the past several years and was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include her son, James Hayes McClanahan of Paris; special nieces Lucy Ann Johnson and Charlotte Johnson, both of Berea; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Miley, June and Sherman Parson; three sisters, Fairy Johnson, Winnie Eula McGlothin Logston and Beulah Parson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell.
