RICHMOND —
John Edward Quinley, 82, of Richmond, husband of 62 years to Nancy Bemiss Quinley, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013.
John was born March 24, 1930, in Christiansburg, Ky., the son of the late John Edward Quinley Sr. and Lillian Maurice Skelton Quinley.
He was a graduate of Bagdad High School, in Shelby County, and was employed by Kentucky Utilities for 38 years.
John was active with the Lions Club of Eminence, Ky., and was a 4-H instructor for many years. He loved to boat and camp and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed being with his family and particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughters: Sharon Tyler (Tom) and Barbara Lynch (Rick); grandchildren John Tyler (Kelli), Nicole Cook (Jon) and Logan Lynch; and four great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Edward.
Funeral services for John will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Rosedale Baptist Church, 411 Westover Ave., Richmond.
Rev. Chris Dotson and Rev. Malcolm Lunceford will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery of Shelbyville Ky.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: John Tyler, Johnny Stacey, Biff Campbell, Tim Pennington, Wayne Bemiss and Jonathan Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be his fellow KU retirees.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to either the Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475, or Grace Now, 110 S. Collins St., Richmond, KY, 40475.
