RICHMOND — Our dearest Halimat Saadia Hassanatu Adebayo Sillah (nee Zubairu), 59, of Richmond, was called home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, from Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

We will miss her beautiful smile, wonderful spirit and random acts of selflessness. We are comforted by the fact that she is at peace and with her maker.  

She was born December 21, 1953, in Kambia, Sierra Leone, West Africa, to Alhaji Haroun Oluwole Zubairu and Adiatu Ajimalay Mansaray, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Haroun Sillah (Stephenie) and Abdul Sillah, (NaShawnda), both of Richmond; four brothers, Mohamed Zubairu of Manchester, England, Ibrahim Zubairu, Alhaji Yazid Zubairu and Alieu Zubairu, all of Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa; four sisters, Haja Sally Kamara of Maryland, Zainab Zubairu of London, England, Dr. Adiatu Thompson of Richmond and Khadija Cole of Los Angeles, Calif.

She also leaves: her grandchildren, Isabella Sillah, Takura Machaka, Makayla and Maliq Turay, Abaiyomi Hassan, Aziza Burnette and Nabil and Ameenah Zubairu; three brothers-in-law, Hon. Justice Bankole Thompson, Dr. Gibril Cole and Alhaji Ibrahim Kamara; two sisters-in-law, Haja Seray Zubairu and Haja Abie Zubairu; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until

service time.

    He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell.
