Nancy Lee Lassiter Shepherd, 88

Richmond native

RICHMOND — Nancy Lee Shepherd, 88, widow of Paul Jackson Shepherd, died Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013. Following a brief illness she ascended to heaven from her home in Greenville, S.C.

A Richmond native, she was born December 19, 1924, to the late Nancy Kavanaugh Yates and Alford Lee Lassiter, former Superintendent of Public Schools in Richmond.

She grew up in Richmond and attended Eastern before graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1946. Although life with Paul took her on many adventures far, far away from her beloved Kentucky Bluegrass, Richmond was always her home.

Nancy Lee was a long-time member of the Spring Baptist Church in Texas and a former member of the First Christian Church in Richmond. She also was a member of the Boonesborough Chapter of the DAR.

She is survived by: her only child, Susan Harris Burch and son-in-law Dr. Marcus A. Burch; her granddaughter, Jessica Lee Bobbie and grandson-in-law F. Ryan Bobbie and their daughter Contessa Reagan Bobbie, all of Greer, S.C.; and her grandson, Daniel Paul Burch and granddaughter-in-law Heather Griffin Burch and their sons David Taylor Burch and Hunter Bryce Burch of Tomball, Texas. She is fondly remembered by her family and many friends.

Interment will be in the Lassiter-Shepherd plot at the Richmond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
