Margaret Day, 87

RICHMOND — Margaret Day, 87, of Day Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

Margaret was born in Rockcastle County to the late Oliver and Grace Damrell Pingleton.

She was a homemaker who loved sewing and making quilts. She also enjoyed participating in activities with the Garrard County Senior Citizens and was a member of the Cartersville Ruritan Club and White Lick Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Sherman Pingleton and Oscar Pingleton, and one sister, Opal Davis.

She is survived by: her loving husband, Robert Day; her children, Lilly Mae Parsons of Cartersville and David (Tammy) Day of Cartersville, and Eunice (Charles) Locker of Paint Lick; five siblings, Herman Pingleton, Jimmy Pingleton, Gladys Cullers, Pauline Malicote and Ruth Hymer; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, seven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at White Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dunn and Rev. Joey Kays officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Keith Locker, Randy Ash, Geoff Ash, Sean Day, Bill Jennings and Tony Renner. Honorary bearers will be John Harrison, Junior Pitts, Owen Pingleton, L.M. Lake, Eddie Jennings and Doug Rhodus.

    He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell.
