RICHMOND — Michael David Salyer, 62, husband of Hannah M. “Marg” (Sullivan) Salyer of Richmond, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
He was born in Ashland, Ky., May 29, 1947, to the late William Lewis and Opal Eloise (Greene) Salyer. For nearly 16 years, Michael had been the owner and operator of Mike’s Warehouse Liquor in Richmond, and a former employee of A K Steel in Ashland, where he worked for 22 years.
He was a member of the Madison Hills Christian Church. Michael enjoyed his family, friends, his church, and loved playing golf.
In addition to his loving wife, Marg, he is survived by: one daughter, Amy Lee Salyer-McDowell (Chris) of Richmond; one son, Michael Salyer (Angie) of Irvine; and eight grandchildren, Payton Salyer, Taylor Salyer, Savannaha Burns, Austin Salyer, Alexis Burns, Hannah Beth Salyer, Jack McDowell and Emma Claire McDowell.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Scott Thomas Salyer; and a brother, Ken Salyer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with the service following at 7 p.m. at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Marty Frazer officiating.
Committal service and burial will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Rose Hill Burial Park, in Ashland, Ky., with visitation at the cemetery chapel at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday.
