Neal Tevis, 92

LEXINGTON — Neal W. Tevis, 92, husband of Mary Louise Tevis, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at the VA Hospital.

Born in Madison County, Ky., he was a son of the late Richard and Florence Tevis. He was retired from Bluegrass Army Depot and was an WWII Army veteran.

Mr. Tevis was a member and deacon emeritus at Arlington Christian Church of Lexington and member of the DAV and the American Legion. He was an avid bridge player.

Survivors other than his wife are: four children, Bonnie J. (Clarence) Steele, Peggy (Durbin) Comley, Lynda McMillen and Steve G. (Johnny Orona) Tevis; grandchildren, Terry (Richard) Royster, Jason Greene, Jesse Tevis-Orona, Debra Tevis-Orona and Johanna Tevis-Orona, all of Lexington, Jeffery Holt and  Kim (Robert) Snapp, all of Paris, David (Julie) Steele, Georgetown, and Rachel (John Bush) Tevis-Orona, Frankfort; eight special great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Tevis McAughan, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Stephanie T. Jewett, Mass.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Arlington Christian Church. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
