Linkern Leon Centers, 79

BEREA — Linkern Leon Centers, 79, of Berea, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013.

He was born in Estill County, Ky., on Feb. 26, 1933, the son of Guss and Viola Spivey Centers.

He was a member of the Red House Holiness Church, a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. and a retired employee of Eastern Kentucky University having worked in Maintenance and Grounds Department.

Survivors include: his wife, Christine Smith Centers; two sons, Ricky Centers (Donna) and Gary Centers (Scotti); two daughters, Sharon Davidson (Donnie) and Rena Centers;  a son-in-law, Joe Stewart; four brothers, Shirley Centers (Jewell), Danky Centers, Ray Centers (Joann) and Lonnie Centers (Faye); one sister, Rosalee Cottrell (John); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patsy Centers Stewart; and two brothers, R.B. Centers & Dee Centers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Kurt Davis and Rev. Gary Northern officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Coleman, Bro. Ray Norther, Brent Centers, Bro. James Cruse, Johnny McIntosh and Elbe Evans.  www.cpcfh.com

    Cleveland “June” Perkins Jr., 87, husband of 63 years to Ima Jean Horn Perkins, died Monday, May 20, 2013.
    He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
    Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961.

    She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child.

    Mrs. Lange was born in Winchester, Ky., on Sept. 18, 1939, to the late J.B. and Ruth Esther Black Hatton.

    She was born on March 16, 1926 in Laurel County, the youngest of five children, born to the late William Albert and Nora Bowman Warren.
