James ‘Jimmy’ Roark, 70

RICHMOND — James “Jimmy” Roark, 70, husband of 51 years to Viola Ball Roark, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in the St. Joseph East Hospital of Lexington, Ky.

He was born April 12, 1942, in Madison County, Ky., the son of Ed and Helen Moberly Roark.

Jimmy was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A friend to all he knew, Jimmy had the rare quality of being able to strike-up a conversation with anybody. He owned and operated Roark’s Body Shop for over 40 years. He spent many of hour in his shop working hard and fellowshipping with racing friends. Jimmy was a very talented tradesman, it has been said, “He could start a car with a paperclip.”

In addition to his wife and father, Jimmy is survived by: son Troy Roark; daughter Lisa Lamb (John); sister Teresa Johnson (Paul); brother Keith Roark (Karen Kelley); four grandchildren, Adam Lamb, Jami Bray, Brooke Sydow and Tara Beth Roark; 12 great-grandchildren, Brayden Lamb, Hadliegh Lamb, Lucas Lamb, Gavin Bray, Skylar Sydow, Jaxon Sydow, Jasmine Collins, Brittany Collins, Donna Collins, Ayliana Nunez, Annalysa Nunez, Taven Collins; sisters-in-law Ann Westbrook, Peggy Centers and Colleen Ball; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Newell, Adam Lamb, William Collins, Tony Abney, Joe David Turner, Ricky Centers, Joe Sydow and Jason Goldey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Fritz, Greg Flinchem, James David Turner, Thomas Turner, Wayne Newell, Edward Vaughn, Ken Walker, Ryan Jones, and Byron French.
