James D. “Jimmy” Plummer, 77

RICHMOND — James D. “Jimmy” Plummer, 77, of Lancaster Rd., Richmond, passed away

Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after a

brief illness.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1935, in Madison County the son of the

late Jim and Edna Sanders Plummer. Jimmy was a member of the last graduating

class (1955) of the former Kirksville High School. A U.S. Air Force veteran,

he was a machine attendant for IBM, retiring in 1990 after 33 years of

service. After his retirement, he touched countless young people’s lives as a

school bus driver for 20 years for the Madison County School System. He

was a deacon and member of the Big Hill Christian Church.

He is survived by wife of 55 years, Wanda Turpin Plummer; one daughter,

Regina (Paul) Seyfrit, of Richmond; his grandchildren, Michael Seyfrit

(Piper), Travis (Emily) Bogie and Wesley Seyfrit, all of Richmond; two

brothers, Tom Plummer, of Richmond, and Douglas Plummer, of Calif.; three

sisters, Helen Hagewood, of Mich., Ruth Grimes, Lexington, and Paula

(Richard Carter) Giles, of Madison, Ind.; his son-in-law, Dwayne (Brenda)

Bogie, of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam Bogie (d. 2005); and one

sister, Wanda Mardis.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013,

at the Big Hill Christian Church, 1150 Goggins Lane, Richmond, with Bro. Jim

Riggs officiating, assisted by Bro. Jeff Story, Rev. Howard Miller and Bro.

Owen Moody.

Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Larry Turpin, Durwood Turpin, Nick Rhoades, Brian Turpin,

Paul Stocker and Mark Kenner.

The Happy Christians Group of the Big Hill Christian Church will serve as

honorary pallbearers.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Big Hill

Christian Church, 1150 Goggins Lane, Richmond, Ky. 40475 or Hospice Care Plus,

    He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell.
