Ernest Rogers, 86

RICHMOND — Ernest Rogers, 86, husband of Mary Elizabeth Harris Rogers, passed away Saturday morning, November 10, 2012, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Mr. Rogers was born on October 28, 1926, in Garrard County, the son of the late Curt and Grace Miller Rogers. He was a retired brick layer, and a retired farmer and livestock hauler. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and was of the Baptist faith and attended the Middletown Baptist Church in Berea.

Survivors include: his wife Mary “Buna” Rogers; two sons, Donald Lee Harris (Libby) and Larry Dale Harris (Gina); one sister, Aleda Rogers Smith; four grandchildren: Crystal Witt (Bobby), Amanda Leager (Chuck), Crystal Huff and Monica Hampton; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Isaacs, Ernest Isaacs, B.J. Isaacs, Bobby Witt, Anthony Mason and Zack Huff.

    He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
    Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961.

    She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child.

    Mrs. Lange was born in Winchester, Ky., on Sept. 18, 1939, to the late J.B. and Ruth Esther Black Hatton.
