RICHMOND — Sonsaray Lashell Warford died June 28, 2010, at the age of 30. At the time of her death she was an employee of Madison Manor Nursing Home and a member of Victory World Outreach Center.

She is survived by: her sons, DeShawn Warford and Antwaun Warford of Richmond; her mother, Roslyn Martin of Richmond; her father, Gregory Todd of Richmond; her half brothers and sisters, Kristie Cantrell of Lexington, Jamarkos Campbell of Richmond, Channing Roberts of Richmond and Gregory Hunt Todd of Richmond; her grandfather, George Martin (Patsy) of Lexington; her grandmother, Pauline Todd of Richmond; her aunts, Barbara Vaughn of Richmond, Brenda Todd of Richmond, Ethel Todd of Madisonville, Ky., Sentoria Dillingham of Atlanta, Ga.; her uncles, Tony Martin (Sandra) of Richmond, Wayne Pankins of Lexington; a niece, Aliyah Martin of Richmond; and several cousins including, Antonio, Dustin, Sheradan and Othneil Martin, all of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mattie L. Huguely; and an uncle, Terry Martin.

Funeral services for Sonsaray will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Victory World Outreach Center with Pastor Phillip Holman officiating. Visitation will be from 7 until 9:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Harris, Aaron Conners, Donald Lee Watts, Mike Peck, Jerry Wells and Antwaun Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Pastor Charles Shelby, Terry Baker, Daniel Burns, Anthony Lowery and Dr. Richard Steinhauser.

Davis & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell.

Was Eastern Kentucky University justified in agreeing to a $400,000 salary plus benefits, including a housing allowance, for incoming president Michael Benson?

Yes. Benson is a proven fundraiser and institutional leader. Bringing him to EKU will pay enormous dividends. Also, his salary will still be less than that of Western Kentucky University’s president and is comparable to what other successful schools are paying their presidents.
No. With EKU giving only modest, if any, pay raises to faculty/staff, offering buyouts, planning layoffs and elimination of programs, paying the president that much can’t be justified, no matter how good he is. How can he ask others to sacrifice when he will be making $400,000.
