Howard J. Powell, 76, of Berea, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at St. Joseph Berea.
He was a life-long resident of Berea, born March 28, 1936, retired quality control employee of Parker Seal Company, had served as President of Local 70 AFL-CIO, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Bowling Powell; four children, Melloney Tipton, Teresa (Wilbur) Blanton, Myra (Mike) Abner, Steve (Cheryl) Powell; five grandchildren, Nikki DeBoard, Shane DeBoard, Keri Powell, Audra Ewing, Alecia Powell; two great-grandchildren, Charity DeBoard, Jason Norton; two siblings, Bonnie Rice, John Powell.
He was preceded in death by: his father, William Powell; his mother, Lula Burnell Powell Bullens; his stepfather, Jess Bullens; and seven siblings, Thelma Chasteen, Lona Woodall, Nancy Rice, Lyman Powell, Colville Powell, and two infant sisters.
Funeral service noon, Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Reppert Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Chasteen, Bill Powell, Larry Todd, John Rice, Robbie Todd, Eddie Chasteen. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Bowling Casper Bowling, Roy Gene Todd, Ronnie Devere, Roy Grimes, Shane DeBoard, Johnathan Ewing.

He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961. -

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child. -
