RICHMOND —
Mason Edington, 83 of Richmond, passed away early Friday morning in the Richmond Health & Rehab-Kenwood Facility.
Mr. Edington was born on Feb. 26, 1929 in Madison County, the son of the late Thomas and Pearl Edington. Mason was a strong father figure who loved children. He was known as an ethical gentleman who stood on his own two feet and taught character and integrity.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ida Helen Edington; two sons: Terry Edington, Steve Egington, both of Richmond; one daughter: Linda Dotson-Wooley, of Nashville; five grandchildren: Shauna Dotson, Richard Egington, Carrie Egington, Taryn Eington and Rachael Edington; two great-grandchildren: Breanna D. Bailey and Braylin J. Egington; as well as a special companion, his dog Buddy Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Rick Edington; one daughter, Sandra Jane Edington; three brothers, Harlan, Hubert and Gene Edington, as well as an infant sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main St., with Pastor Cliff Chrisman officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be close friends and family.
