Joyce King, 78

BEREA — Joyce Marie Hamilton King, 78, of Opossum Kingdom Rd., passed away Sunday Oct. 14, 2012 in Lexington.

She was born in Berea to the late Rev. William J. Hamilton Sr. and China Mae Powell Hamilton. She loved flowers and antiquing with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Bill Hamilton Jr. and Bobby Hamilton.

She is survived by her loving husband Virgil King, one daughter Brenda Upton and her husband James, one granddaughter Ashley Upton, one brother Richard Lee Hamilton and two sisters Dolly Herndon and Peggy Bicknell.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday Oct. 18, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Glyndon Williams, Jere Turner, Craig Jefferson, Gus Gerrassimides, Marvin Jenkins and Harold Rowlette.  Honorary bearers will be Jeanette Rowlette, Nora Ruth Jenkins, Fern Botkin, Beulah Williams, Edna Fay Cornelison, Glen Gentry, Tim Gentry, Jim Mawyer and Christopher Jenkins.

    He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison County, Ky., the son of the late Cleveland Perkins Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins.
    Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII and served as constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961.

    She was born on May 6, 1931, in Berea, Kentucky, and lovingly raised by her paternal grandparents, Ella and Harry Lamb. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Oswald Lamb who died when Betty was a child.

    Mrs. Lange was born in Winchester, Ky., on Sept. 18, 1939, to the late J.B. and Ruth Esther Black Hatton.
