Helen Baxter Jennings, 87, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

She was born May 22, 1925, in Madison County to Thomas L. and Sallie Combs Baxter, both of whom preceded her in death. She had been employed with the former Richmond City School system and was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Richmond. She was the widow of Robert C. “Bobby” Jennings, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Baxter Jennings and a brother, Tom Baxter. Mrs. Jennings was devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed her fellowship with family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Bill Jennings (Jackie) and one daughter, Sally Cotton (Gordon), both of Richmond; grandchildren, Amy Simcik (John), of N.C., Mary Beth Jackson (Kent Clark) of Richmond, Sarah Nally (Brad) of Lexington, Robert Jennings, of Lexington and Nathan Jennings of Fort Drum, Ny.; seven great grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Lauren, Sawyer, Caison, Peyton and Reid.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Oldham Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Birkett officiating. Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Simcik, Kent Clark, Logan Jackson, Gordon Cotton, Robert Jennings, Nathan Jennings and Brad Nally. Honorary bearers will be Stafford Nelson, Billy Parrish, Russell “Buddy” Roberts, Gary Abney, Dr. Ben Cormney and Ewell T. Cobb.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the First Christian Church or to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
