John Thomas Clark, 81

Paint Lick — John Thomas Clark, 81, of Paint Lick, passed this life on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the VA Medical Center on Leestown Road in Lexington after a long illness.

He was born at home on Oct. 24, 1931, in the community of Cartersville to his parents, the late James and Lillie Turner Clark.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Edington Clark, who passed away Aug. 4, 2010. He also was preceded by three sisters, Lola Prewitt, Ethel Payne and Pauline Proffitt.

His survivors include: his son, John Thomas “Tom” Clark and his wife Debbie of Richmond; three stepsons, Donald Wayne Hensley and his wife, Marsha, of Garrard County, Henry Owen “Buddy” Hensley and his wife, Donna, of Garrard County, and Robert Franklin Hensley and his wife Margaret Ann, of Richmond. He was a grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clark was a lifetime member of Leavel Green Christian Church, a 1949 graduate of Paint Lick High School, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and later enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University to major in accounting. Always a lifetime farmer, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Leavel Green Christian Church officiated by Revs. Harvie Spry & Bryce McCulley with burial following in Cartersville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg, Jason and Matthew Hensley, Wayne Day, Josh Stewart & Matthew Sherrow.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Ramsey Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice or the Cartersville Cemetery.
