RICHMOND —
Diana Lynn Stapleton, 66, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Baptist Health Richmond.
She was born September 30, 1946, twin to David Stapleton, at Paintsville, Ky.. in Johnson County, to William Alvie and Tera Davis Stapleton, both of whom preceded her in death.
Diana was a librarian at Eastern Kentucky University and a member of First Baptist Church of Richmond.
A cancer survivor for 17 years, she served on the Relay for Life Planning Committee. She was a special person with a servant’s heart who bought Christmas gifts for underprivileged children every year, frequently sent cards to many, and took food to those in need. Diana is best described as being an encouragement, helpful, thoughtful, kind and loved by all.
She is survived by her twin brother, David Stapleton of Richmond; an aunt, Angie Stapleton of Flint, Mich.; and many cousins, including Larry Stapleton of Flint Mich., Sandra Chenault of Shelbyville, Ky., and Ray Wheeler of Winchester, Ky., each of whom was special to her.
Services for Diana will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at First Baptist Church, with Bro. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Thompson, Neil Redick, Justin Woosley, Jedidiah Hetrick, Joshua Hocker, Clay Tabor and Mark Buras.
Honorary bearers will be Ryan Redick, Heather Redick, Mia Redick, Karen Thompson, Doe Moody, Bonnie Wood, Russell and Betty Thomas, Debbie Shattuck, Hazel Blevins, Lucy Hammons, Laquetta Brandenburg, Willie Mae Land and Norita Moss.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Madison County Relay for Life, c/o John P. Gillespie, 789 Eastern Bypass, Suite 10, Richmond, KY 40475.

Russell Edward Thacker, 87, of Richmond passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
He was born April 12, 1926, in Rockcastle County to Charles and Pearl Day Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Hutchinson Thacker, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Dargavell. -
