Elwood “Woody” Hunt, 83, of Greentree Drive, Richmond, passed away Tuesday evening, July 7, 2009, at the Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
A native of Garrard County, he was born March 23, 1926, to the late Carlton and Nellie (Poynter) Hunt. He was retired from auto parts sales after 45 years of service, working for Monarch, Dependable and United Auto Parts. Mr. Hunt was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife Edna (Poynter) Hunt; a grandson, Thomas Dwayne Proffitt; and a sister, Rella Finley.
Mr. Hunt is survived by: two daughters, Judy Proffitt (and Thomas) and Brenda Diane Hunt, both of Richmond; one grandson, Woody Darrell Proffitt (and Jamie) of Richmond; one sister, Jessie Casey of Richmond and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his “faithful companions,” Lady, Angel, Sissy, Molly, Little Bit, Betta and Abigail.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Arthur Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery at Paint Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Proffitt, Harold Dean Hunt, Bill Finley, Jimmy Hunt, Glenn Cox and Mark Anderson. Joe Brown, David Humphrey, Brad Poynter, and Dan Ledford will serve as honorary pallbearers.
