RICHMOND — Nora A. Thompson of Berea passed away Sunday following a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Thompson was a teacher of 27 years and a principal/administrator of Bluegrass Christian School. Nora was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was greatly loved by her family, church and school.
She is survived by: her husband, Rick Thompson; her sons, Jeremy and Zachery Thompson; daughter-in-law to be, Jennifer Brogli; and faithful family friend, Mark Huguely. Nora was survived by her faithful parents, Lloyd and Johnnie Anglin.
Also surviving her were: compassionate sisters, Lynn and husband Roger Kelley, Malta and her husband Raymond Flannery; brothers-in-law, Ron and wife Renee Parsons and Jeff Parsons. She left behind her special cousin, Peggy Plotkin. She is also survived by: her nephews, Roger “Kip” Kelley II, Michael Flannery, John Parsons and Jacob Parsons; her nieces include: Beth Nowlin, Lavina Kelley, Laura Coffey, Christine Burns and Kylie Parsons.
Nora was preceded in death by: her “baby brother” Abe Anglin and her “dear old aunty” Lavina Kelly. Nora also was survived by a great number of students, parents and friends from her many years of service in education and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Nora’s pallbearers include Michael Flannery, Raymond Flannery, Roger Kelley, Ron Parsons, Jeff Parsons, Phil Nowlin, Aaron Coffey and Mark Pearson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Cortez, the Rev. Kenny Davis, the Rev. Kenny Queener and Bro. Clyde Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at the same place.
