OVC HOOPS: Lady Colonels host Austin Peay on senior night

RICHMOND — The Lady Colonels (16-8, 10-3 OVC) will be going for their fourth-straight win when they take on Austin Peay (7-18, 2-11 OVC) today at 4 p.m. in McBrayer Arena on Senior Night.

The game can be heard on WEKY 1340 AM and on EKUSports.com and seen live at OVCDigitalnetwork.com.

EKU is coming off a big 61-55 win over Tennessee Tech on Monday that gave them sole possession of first place in the OVC East Division, one game ahead of both Tech and Belmont with three games remaining.

In that game, senior Alex Jones scored nine points and pulled down 15 rebounds, giving her double-digit rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Jones is four rebounds shy of passing Sandra Mukes for second on the EKU career rebounds list and she needs just 28 more rebounds to become only the second Lady Colonel to ever reach 1,000 career points and rebounds.

Senior Brittany Coles scored 15 points against the Golden Eagles and now only needs 17 points to reach 1,000 points for her career.

EKU leads the all-time series with APSU 45-29. The Lady Colonels won the last meeting with the Lady Governors 61-59.

Austin Peay is lead by Meghan Bussabarger averaging 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds per game, and Leslie Martinez who is averaging 10.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Do you support the Richmond City Commission’s proposal to fund three additional firefighters by taking $100,000 originally planned as capital outlay for city parks and another $110,000 by not restoring the uniform allowance for police officers and firefighters?

Yes. The firefighting force was stretched dangerously thin.
Yes. But it should not have been done by cutting the uniform allowance.
Yes. But it should not have been done by cutting capital outlay for parks.
Yes. But I oppose cutting both the uniform allowance and the parks capital outlay.
No. The firefighting force was adequate and police officers and firefighters deserve a uniform allowance and parks need to be expanded/improved.
