OVC HOOPS: Lady Colonels look to bounce back

RICHMOND — The Lady Colonels return to McBrayer Arena today trying to break a three-game losing streak when they play host to Presbyterian College at 7:30 p.m. in the Comfort Suites Invitational.

EKU (3-3) opened the season with three straight wins at home, but have dropped their last three on the road to Florida State, Milwaukee and Louisville.

Senior Jade Barber leads the Lady Colonels in scoring, 11 points per game, and rebounding with 10 per game. She ranks 19th in the country with an average of 11.2 rebounds a game. EKU ranks 24th in the country in blocks per game, averaging 5.2 per game.

The Blue Hose (4-3) are coming off two consecutive wins against Charleston Southern and North Carolina Central.

Presbyterian is led by Karlee Taylor, who averages 10.7 points per game, Shonda Burnside, 9.9 points, Dria David and Mariah Pietrowski at 9.7 points each.

The game will be a homecoming of sorts for Blue Hose senior Devin Fothergill who played high school basketball in Somerset at Southwestern High School.

The Blue Hose average 50.9 points per game while giving up an average of 57.1 points per game. They are shooting 40.5 percent from the floor and 37.7 percent from behind the three-point line. They are being out-rebounded by 3.7 rebounds per game.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Marshall and Jackson State will face off at 4:30 p.m. If EKU defeats Presbyterian, the Lady Colonels will play the winner of Marshall/Jackson State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament championship game. If EKU loses to PC, the Lady Colonels will play the loser of Marshall/Jackson State at the same time.
