RICHMOND —
There were four 700 series bowled last week at Galaxy. This is the first time that many 700 series were rolled in the same week this season, and perhaps the first time since Galaxy opened in 2001.
John Poynter bowled a 779 series and Tyler Morgan a 742 series in the Galaxy Classic League.
Neil Haggard rolled a 728 series in the Friday Night Mixed League and Brandon Simpson bowled a 718 series as a sub in that league.
Poynter (289), Haggard (280) and Morgan (279) also bowled the highest games for the week.
The top women’s scores for the week were a 576 series by Chrissy Maddox and a 224 game by Novel Davis.
MCBA Seniors Tournament
The MCBA will conduct a seniors tournament for members aged 55 or more next Monday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m.
This will be a handicapped tournament and the MCBA will pay the entry fee for the winner to the state seniors tournament in Frankfort on April 9 and 10.

League Highlights
Galaxy Classic
John Poynter bowled some very impressive scores to lead this league last week. Poynter rolled a 779 series, which included a 289 game. His series just missed equally the 780 he rolled earlier in the season which ranks second on the Galaxy leader board behind Brandon Simpson’s 812 series.
Poynter’s 289 game ties him with Tyler Morgan for third place behind Glenn Master’s 296 game and Lewis Jones Jr.’s 290 score.
Tyler Morgan also rolled outstanding scores last week with a 742 series and 279 game.
Nine other men bowled a 600 series at this session, headed by Barry Miller (686), Joe Sageser (657) and David Norman (651).
The others who reached the 600 series level were Dale Stone, Brandon Simpson, Chris Maddox, Mark Rogers, Bruce Watson and Gary Wagoner.
There were 53 200-level games bowled by 35 league members at this session. Bonnie Smith bowled a career-best 181 game.
This league will bowl the final session of the season tonight with four teams having a shot at a share of the title for the second half of the split season.
The Super Hookers (Brent and Brandon Simpson and Rita and Tyler Morgan) are currently first with 41 wins. They will bowl Git R Done (Mark Rogers, Robert Johnson, Terry Jackson, David Norman) which is second with 39 wins.
2 Old 2 Care (Ron Roberts, Billy McGuire, Lynn Estes, Spider Weaver) and Miller Time (Bruce Watson, Joe Sageser, and Barry and Corey Miller) are tied for third with 38 wins. One of these teams could tie for the title by sweeping their head to head match depending upon the outcome of the Super Hookers-Git R Done contest.
Galaxy Girls
Michelle Ratliff led this league last week with a 206 game and 534 series. Carole Bales bowled the second-best game (204) followed by Narita Rose (202) and Pauline Denny (201).
Rose rolled the second-highest series at 521. Denny, Bales, Tammy Fourre, Linda Combs, Brenda Williams and Bridget Settles also rolled series scores over 500.
Splits were converted by Emma Lee Tate (4-5), P. K. Elliston (4-10), Lemetta Dause (3-7), Williams (5-7) and Rose (5-10).
Friday Night Mixed
Neil Haggard narrowly missed bowling a 300 game in this league last week. Only a stubborn 10 pin which refused to fall in the second frame derailed his chances as he finished with a 280 score.
Haggard added games of 243 and 205 for a series of 728 which is the top series for the season in this league.
John Hickam had the next-best scores for the league members with a 247 game and 644 series. Lewis Jones Jr. (632) and Steve Woltering (606) also reached the 600 series level.
Novel Davis led the league’s ladies with a 224 game and 525 series. Lisa Ball had the second-best ladies game (169) and she tied Michelle Albertson for the second-highest series at 440.
Sub Brandon Simpson continued his hot bowling of late with a 718 series, which included a 268 game. Sub Brent Simpson rolled a 245 game.
TGIF
Sandy Reynolds (572) and Beverly Shearer (554) bowled the top series in this league last week.
Pat Harris (219) and Reynolds (210) rolled the top women’s games followed by Lemetta Dause (206) and Shearer (205).
Fred Tilsley (215) and Charles Harris (203) rolled the top men’s games, while Harris (551) and Alfred McKnight (532) bowled the best series scores for the league’s men.
Sub Lynn Estes bowled a 209 game 582 series.
Splits were converted by Pat Harris (5-7 and 3-10), and Tilsley (5-7). Also, four bowlers — Charles Harris, Lemetta Dause, Al McKnight, and Helen McKnight — each picked up a 3-10 split.
Wednesday Wonders
Woody Arvin led this league with season-best scores of 254 for a game and 647 for a series.
Lewis Jones Sr. bowled the second-best series for the night at 637 and Mark Rogers rolled the second-highest game (235).
The top game for the ladies was 181 by Jo Ann Smith with Jennifer Morris next at 175. Morris rolled the top series (478) followed by Smith (432).
Mike Bryant (216) and John Rice (210) bowled season-best games.
Classic Doubles
Carl Daniels led this league last week with a 623 series and 222 game. John Payne had the second-best series (583), while the second-highest game was 218 by Jerry R. Rose.
Tina Hisle led the ladies with a 214 game and 525 series followed by Beverly Shearer at 188 and 512. Hisle also picked up a 5-7 split.
Sub Miranda Rowe bowled a 207 game, and Carolyn McKnight rolled a season-best 150 game.
Early Birds
Beverly Shearer and Pat Harris led this league as each bowled a 186 game and 502 series. Karen Kensicki had the next best scores with a 182 game and 490 series.
Estine Miller picked up a 6-7 split.
Arlington
The top game in this league was 201 by Doris Gish, while Dewey Locker and Connie Bowlin tied for the second-highest game at 188. Bowlin rolled the top series at 498 followed by Gish at 475.
Among those converting splits were Bowlin (5-7 and 5-10), Tina Hunter (4-7-10), Jane Gordon (7-9), Joyce Kearns (3-10) and Sherry Ernst (3-10).
Cash Money League
Randy Burgess Sr. led this league last week with a 248 game and 628 series. Mark Paier rolled the second-best game (211) followed by Donald Spivey (203), Russell Linnemeier (201) and Devon Farnstrom (200). Farnstrom bowled the second-highest series (566).
Colleen Jackson led the league’s ladies with 162 game and 471 series. Sallie Fritz had the second-best game (152), while Kevan Delaney bowled the second-highest series (378).
Bad Bowlers No-Tap
David Robinson bowled his second 300 game in this league last week. Nine pins down with the first ball in a frame counts as a strike in no-tap leagues.
Robinson was aided by an unusual no-tap strike in the first frame when the head pin was the one pin which remained standing.
Steve Dickey rolled the top series at 738, which included the second-high game of 286.
Series scores over 600 were bowled by Lynn Estes (666) and Josh Stidham (639).
April Brumfield bowled the top ladies series at 501, and she tied Joanna Dickey for the high game at 175.
