RICHMOND —
The Colonels (16-5, 6-2 OVC) hit the road for two games this week beginning with an 8 p.m. tip-off today against UT-Martin (5-16, 2-7 OVC), then Saturday at Southeast Missouri State.
The game can be heard on WCYO 100.7 FM and EKUSports.com. It can also be seen live on OVCDigitalNetwork.com
The Colonels are looking to rebound from their only home loss of the season, which came Saturday to Belmont.
Belmont was the only one of EKU’s last eight opponents to score more than 67 points.
Thus far this season, the OVC East Division is 19-4 against the West Division, and EKU at 3-0 against the West — one of four East teams that are undefeated against the West.
Corey Walden was chosen as the OVC Co-Newcomer of the week on Monday for the second consecutive week for his 24-point performance against Belmont.
Walden currently leads the OVC in free throw shooting and is 10th in the nation in free throw shooting percentage at 90.5 percent. As a team, EKU is 13th in the nation in free throw shooting.
Coach Jeff Neubauer has 134 victories at EKU and needs only two more to move into second place behind Paul S. McBrayer on the all-time wins list.
Martin is coming off a win over Southern Illinois University — Edwardsville on Saturday. The Skyhawks had lost 11 of their previous 12 games before the win.
Martin is led by sophomore Myles Taylor, who enters the game averaging 16.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Guard Mike Liabo is second on the team, averaging 13 points per game.
The Skyhawks are averaging 65 points per game, while giving up 75 points per game. They are shooting 39 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the three-point line.
The Colonels lead the all-time series against the Skyhawks 24-15, including 86-78 in double overtime last season. UTM has an 11-8 advantage of the Colonels in games played in Martin.
