RICHMOND — Register Staff Report

The Madison Central swim teams had a good showing at the Woodford County Invitational swim meet Saturday in Versailles.

The girls team finished second in the field of 24 teams, while the boys team placed ninth. The combined team finished fourth overall.

In the boys competition, Chase Baldwin placed first in the 200 yard individual medley. He also earned second overall for power points and Outstanding Male Swimmer.

In the girls competition, Molly Ford placed first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Caroline Smith placed second in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

The relay team of Smith, Morgan Lakes, Meredith Meeker and Ford placed first in the 200 freestyle relay.

“The entire team contributed to the overall fourth place finish,” Central coach Richard Livingston said. “The women were exceptional and our young swimmers — Trent Lake, Tilly Baldwin, Meredith Meeker, Abby Thompson and Blake Brockman — really brought a level of motivation and toughness that will serve us well as we get closer to our regional championship.”
