RICHMOND — The highest men’s series during the first week of the new season was 668 by Brandon Simpson, while Dale Stone turned in the top game at 254.

High stakes tourney this weekend

The $3,000 Golden Corral tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12. The competition will start at 2 p.m. each day. This tournament is open to all bowlers.

This is a singles tournament sponsored by Galaxy and Golden Corral Buffet and Grill. The bowler with the highest score for three games including handicap will win $1,500.

The handicap to be used is 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 220.

The prize fund of $3,000 will be augmented by $10 from the entry fee of each bowler. Thus, this fund would increase to $5,000 if 200 bowlers enter the tournament.

The entry fee is $25. Bowlers may call 624-4444 for entry information or come to Galaxy by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.

The first 200 bowlers to register will receive a free meal from Golden Corral.
