H.S. GOLF/SOCCER: Central picks up fourth straight win

RICHMOND — The Madison Central girls golf team extended its winning streak to four matches and stayed undefeated on the season with a lopsided win over Jackson County Tuesday at The Bull.

The Lady Indians finished with a combined score of 198, beating Jackson County by 49 strokes.

Tristyn Nowlin once again led Central, shooting a par score of 36. McKenzie Neal shot a 45, Tori Harvey finished with a 57, Mattie Jo Neeley shot a 60 and Paige Stamper finished with a 62.

The Lady Indians are set to return Aug. 20 at Gibson Bay against East Jessamine at Lexington Christian.

Lady Indians open season with win

The Madison Central girls soccer team opened the season with a convincing win Tuesday in Lexington.

Marissa Stewart scored three goals and Taylor Sterling added two goals as the Lady Indians defeated Sayre, 9-0.

“The girls worked the ball really well,” Central coach Chris Dunham said. “A lot of 1-2 touches. Everyone played really well all the way around.”

Senior Morgan Tinker and Dani Parsley each scored their first varsity goals and freshman Emily Willoughby also scored a goal.

Sam Shepherd made three saves in goal and earned the shutout.

Central is set to return to action Aug. 22 at home against Western Hills.
