Eastern is coming off a hard-fought 66-64 win over Morehead State on Saturday. The Lady Colonels were ahead by as much as 16 points in the first half, but had to come back late after Morehead had taken a lead midway through the second half.
Senior LaRae Allen led the way for EKU with 18 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots in her first start of the season. Allen replaced Jade Barber in the starting lineup after Barber left the team earlier in the week.
Senior Brittany Coles scored 16 points against the Eagles and only needs 50 more to reach 1,000 points for her career. She is also needs seven more blocked shots to reach 92, which would make her the second leading shot-blocker in EKU history.
Alex Jones pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds in the win and is now 54 rebounds shy of 1,000, which would make her only the second Lady Colonel to reach that plateau.
Eastern now ranks No. 22 in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 34.6 percent and is No. 35 in the nation in blocked shots averaging 4.9 blocks per game.
Marie Carpenter leads the Lady Colonels in scoring at 11.8 points per game. Coles is second, averaging 10.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
