Central wins golf meet

RICHMOND — The Madison Central Lady Indians golf teamplaced thirdin the Henry Clay She Devil Invititationalon Saturday at Lakeside Golf Course in Lexington.

Tristyn Nowlin placed first individually, carding three birdies to finish with a score of 79.

Mckenzie Neal had one birdie and was second with a score of 83.

Tori Harvey (118), Paige Stamper (119) and Emily Ridings (120) also played for the Lady Indians.

Central is set to play Berea Community and Anderson Co. at Gibson Bay, at 5 p.m. on Monday.



Central cross country teams win meet.

The Central boys and girls placed first on Thursday at a cross country meet at Boyle County.

The girls have five runners place in the top 10, scoring a meet-best 25 points.

Freshman Julia Manning was fourth in a personal best time of 21:43.

Sarah Franklin was sixth in 21:58, Anna Marshall was seventh in 22:11, Ivanna Sabino was eighth in 22:25 and Gabriella Sabino was 10th in 22:38.

The boys were led by freshman Griffin Sexton, who finished fourth with a time of 17:27. 

Brennan Fields was fifth in 17:35, Mason Crump was seventh in 17:39, Parker Stanley was 19th in 18:36 and Kyle Kelsey was 20th place in 18:36. 

B. Michael Caudill Middle School sixth-graxer Garrett Puckett awon the 1.1 mile run with a time of 6:49. 

Madison Central splits pair of games

The Madison Central boys soccer team went 1-1 on Saturday during the opening day of the Colonel Classic at Bourbon County High School.

Central (6-6) beat Montgomery County 2-1 in one game, but fell to state powerhouse Henry Clay, 3-1, in the other game.

The Indians return to action in teh tournament at 1 p.m. today againt host team Bourbon County.

Central is then home at 7 p.m. Tuesday against district rival Berea.



Girls soccer

Villa Madonna 1, Berea 0

Berea fell 1-0 on Saturday at Villa Madonna, in a game that was rescheduled from earlier this season.

It was only the second loss of the season for the Lady Pirates, who fall to 9-2-1 on the season.

Berea returns to action at 6 p.m. Monday at home against Frankfort, before playing a key district match-up at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Madison Southern.
