The Berea College basketball teams opened the season with a pair of games this weekend.
The Lady Mountaineers split a pair of games at the Berea College Tip-off Classic at the Seabury Center. On Friday, Berea picked up a 75-65 win over Northwestern Ohio.
The Lady Mountaineers (1-1) shot just 39 percent from the field, but had four players reach double figures in scoring. Mikola Burks scored a game-high 19 points and hit five three-pointers. Johnesha Warren had 11 points and DeAnn Ryann and Kaitlynne Smith each had 10 points.
On Saturday, Berea suffered a 71-57 loss to St. Francis College. The game was tied at halftime, but the Lady Mountaineers shot just 31 percent in the second half.
Shelby Romine had a team-high 16 points and Burks had 11 points.
The Lady Mountaineers are set to return to action Saturday at home against Milligan College.
The Mountaineers (1-1) opened the season with a 97-55 loss to Mid-Continent College Friday at the Asbury Tip-off Classic in Wilmore.
Berea bounced back to pick up a 127-67 win over Johnson Bible College on Saturday at Asbury College.
The Mountaineers are set to return to action Tuesday at home against Boyce College.
