Berea College jumped out to a big early lead, but Transylvania quickly regrouped and pulled away for a 77-56 win on Saturday in Lexington.
Meagan Downs and Ashley Fowler each had a team-high 12 points for the Lady Mountaineers (2-6), while Tiffany Yates added 11 points.
Berea shot just 24 percent, including eight-of-34 from three-point range. The Lady Mountaineers were also outrebounded, 52-46, and had 22 turnovers, which led to 14 points.
Berea College scored 12 of the first 15 points of the game, but the Lady Pioneers scored 11-straight points to re-take the lead and eventually went on a 21-1 run that allowed them to go into halftime with a 31-28 lead.
The Lady Mountaineers shot just 21 percent in the first half (eight-of-38).
Kennae Demus scored a game-high 20 points and had nine rebounds for Transylvania (4-1). Olivia Akridge had 13 points and six assists and Brittany Henderlight added 10 points.
Berea’s starting lineup was a combined seven-of-40 from the field.
The Lady Mountaineers will return to action Monday at home against Lindsey Wilson.
