Burchell leads Colonel Aquatics at Mason Fall Invitational
Led by Kaylin Burchell, the Colonel Aquatics swim team turned in another impressive performance last weekend at the Mason Fall Invitational in Kings Mill, Ohio.
Burchell rolled to wins in the 100 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, the 100 fly and the 50 freestyle and picked up a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke.
In the 10-year-old division, Abby Thompson swam to victory in the 200 individual medley, the 200 freestyle, the 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle. She finished second in the 50 backstroke, in third in the 50 freestyle and the 100 fly and fourth in the 50 fly.
Also picking up a pair of top-10 finishes was Caroline Smith. Smith finished fourth in the 13-14 freestyle and sixth in the 50 freestyle.
Eleven-year-old Laylee Burchell also had an impressive day in the water, picking up a sixth-place finish the 11- and 12-year-old 50 breaststroke event and an eighth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
Justine Schwartz earned some points for the team with her sixth-place finish in the 200 fly, and Lauren Shepherd finished sixth in the 50 fly, seventh in the 100 individual medley and in the 100 freestyle.
Also competing for the Colonel Aquatics was: Blake Brockman, Lauren Burton, Julia Hatcher, Tate Leforge, David Losson, Madeline Meeker, Meredith Meeker, Eliza Miller, Jack Miller, Emma Palmer, Richard Roche, Christian Schwartz, James Schwartz, Sam Shepherd, Cameron Sidor, Lauren Smarko and Jonas Welsing.

The Madison Central cheerleading team arrived in Orlando, Fla., focused on competing against some of the top squads from all across the country at the prestigious Universal Cheerleading Association National Championships.
However, very serious distractions quickly arose.
