For the first time since 1994, the Madison Central swim team defeated Model Laboratory in a dual meet.
The Indians slipped past the Patriots 174-161 Tuesday at the Telford YMCA in Richmond.
Central also picked up a 100-68 victory in the girls competition, while Model earned a 93-74 victory in the boys team competition.
Summer Spillman led the Central girls squad, taking first in the 200 individual medley, the 100 butterfly and was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay squad, along with Olivia Smith, Rikki Babuka and Molly Ford.
Also posting first-place finished for the Central girls were Caroline Smith in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Rikki Babuka in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay team of Caroline and Olivia Smith, Morgan Lakes and Babuka.
On the boys side, John Babuka was strong for the Indians, winning the 200 individual medley and the 500 yard freestyle. Seventh-grader Chase Baldwin won the 100 backstroke and Alex Grise won the 100 breaststroke. The Central 200 freestyle relay team of Dallas Merrill, Grise, Nolan Batch and John Dunlap edged the Model squad by more than 10 seconds for the gold.
For Model, Meredith White won the 50 freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and was part of the first-place 200 freestyle relay team with Rebecca McPhearson, Kathryn Brown and Christa Nnoromele and on the second-place 200 medley relay team with Alex Neumann, Justine Schwartz and Nnoromele.
Tate Leforge (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and David Losson (50 freestyle, 100 yard butterfly) also won events for the Patriots. Both were also on the first-place 400 freestyle relay team, which also included Jack Miller and James Schwartz. Both were also on the first-place 200 medley relay squad, which included Miller and Jonas Welsing.
Also competing in the meet for Madison Central were: Alexandria Rogers, Emma Palmer, Makenzie Burford, Morgan Lakes, Trent Lakes, Nolan Batch, Hadley Neal, Molly Ford and Samantha Carney.
Also competing in the meet for Model were Christina Schwartz, Leila Cahill, Miriam Cahill, Jaqueline Brochu, Sam Shepherd, Parker Jackson, James Schwartz, Devin Dirks, Philip Brochu, Kate Walters, Zach Tyler, Karoline Prichta, Cameron Sidor and Kody Stoschein.
